The Opportunity

Role Overview:

The role combines working knowledge of finance practices with a commercial awareness of the business of law to partner with the business and technical teams to ensure both the accuracy and integrity of financial processes as well as leverage data for insight.

Key Responsibilities:

Validating and loading journals into the finance system. Systems checks - Subledger to General Ledger and resolving imbalances with the Data Analyst. System maintenance – Chart of Accounts, GL linkings, set up of project codes and ensuring that all systems are kept in line. Provide ad-hoc month end support to Finance Managers and their teams to ensure the successful completion of month end processes Maintaining and updating the suite of core reports in the WEBi reporting environment including schedules and publications Assisting with the ongoing maintenance and support of the WEBi reporting environment and troubleshooting issues Analysing the processes within the data and analytics lifecycle to provide reports and dashboards to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of that process Training the extended WEBi user community on Universes and reporting best practice Assisting the Business Finance teams to with complex reporting problems that cannot be resolved directly in WEBi. Partnering with the wider business services community to build their data literacy and support them with the production of reports, dashboards and ad-hoc analysis Ensuring that all users of BI reports and WEBi universes understand the metrics and correct usage of data Interpreting and analysing trends in data as directed by their Manager  Strong presentation skills in line with firm branding, including presenting information through PowerBI, Excel and PowerPoint., using data storytelling to inform decision making Monitoring, triaging ServiceNow calls and resolving in a timely fashion or escalating as appropriate. Identifying recurring issues or patterns in ServiceNow calls to be able to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness Documenting processes and maintaining an up to date reporting calendar. Working with the business to identify new reporting needs or changes to the existing BI reporting suite and defining the user story requirements for the IT Business Intelligence (BI) team to deliver Provide a bridge between the BI team and the end users during delivery sprints to ensure the problem is understand by the developers and the acceptance criteria are met Work with the business to define and execute user acceptance testing of BI development Supporting the management of the Business Analytics product backlog including the creation of epics and decomposition into users stories to be delivered.


Key Performance Indicators:

Resolution time of ServiceNow queries Cycle time for completion of moth end processing activities Seen as a go to person for analytic support Number of users trained and the quality of their subsequent reporting output Accuracy and quality of analysis and reports produced Collaboration with the Business Analytics team and HSF stakeholders garnering positive feedback Number of data process improvements identified and documented Maintaining the integrity of the systems Known issues are documented and maintained

Qualifications, skills and experience: 

Bachelor Degree in Finance or related discipline. Started professional studies (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or related financial or analytic qualifications is highly desirable One to three year's experience in a corporate environment, preferable a professional services, working in data and analytics team Advanced level of using Microsoft Excel and WEBi Proficiency in PowerBI desirable Knowledge of SQL or other coding languages Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of staff and, in time, partners. A good standard of written and spoken English is therefore essential. Well organised, articulate, numerate and commercial Able to work independently Analytical approach to problem solving The ability to analyse issues thoroughly and in a logical manner
