Job Summary
The objective of this role is to play a key part in the delivery of design, build, and development and integration activities for my client. They have a number of use cases predicated on a secure corporate enterprise data store that can be scaled to the business future needs; both in terms of capacity and performance.

The selected candidate must have extensive experience in the installation, management and use of the Elastic stack and elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) deployments, as this role will need to manage ECE upgrades, Analyse integration issues between software/infrastructure components and investigate data issues where they arise.

Principle use cases to be managed/delivered within this role will be forensic storage for both application and system audit, application performance metrics and the on boarding of a number of sizeable data sources. Data sources will be exposed both through a RESTFUL API and in stack visualisations.

Whilst providing expertise in architectural and development deliverables, it is expected that this role will play a key part in project activities from early initiatives through to the transition of services into formal support.

Key responsiblities in the role-
Act as a technical product owner, developing medium to long term strategies for product lines
Provide Elastic expertise and share with other members of the development and architectural teams.
provide technical leadership and guidance through coaching and mentoring
lead the sharing of knowledge and good practice
You will work on a variety of platforms and tools so being a lifelong learner with the ability to quickly learn technical skills are key to your success.

The ideal candidate will have:
A solid background in software engineering and platform infrastructure support.
Extensive experience of managing Elastic Cloud Enterprise deployments and upgrades.
Extensive experience in utilising the Elastic product stack.
Significant data analysis/data science experience
Have a proven track record in creating and maintaining DevOps or similar pipelines.
The Lead DevOps Engineer will also help plan projects and be involved in project management decisions as part of an agile service delivery team.
The DevOps team is a key component of the business' IT strategy which operational activities will depend upon.

It will be benefiical for the role holder to have-
Understanding and experience of widely used DevOps tooling, including Git/BitBucket, Jira and Confluence software (or similar)
Understanding and experience of infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, Ansible or similar.
Understanding and experience of how testing works within a CI/CD pipeline, including automated testing
Experience of Kubernetes and containerisation
Experience of Linux operating systems, including shell script.
Awareness of ICT security best practice.

It will also be ideal but not essential for the role holder to have the below skills & experience-
Experience of working with teams utilising some of the below (or similar):
Kubernetes and containerisation tooling (e.g. SUSE Rancher, RKE2, EKS, AKS, Yaml, Helm, Docker)
.NET (C#, ASP.NET, .NET CORE)
JavaScript (REACT, Bootstrap Frameworks, node.js)
Databases (SQL)
NoSQL technologies e.g. Elasticsearch
GitOps
Experience of Agile ways of working (SAFE Agile).
Excellent written and clear technical documentation writing skills.
Organisational skills, the ability to pay attention to detail.
Highly motivated and determined to contribute to the mission. Takes initiative and ownership for resolving problems, has a strong work ethic and manages the demands of the role effectively.
Ability to keep up to date with the latest software development and testing technologies/methodologies. Engages in continuous learning to become a subject matter expert, particularly in relevant technologies.
Works co-operatively with others, developing positive working relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders (including senior colleagues).
Strong Leadership and team development experience.
Preferred ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation certified.
