The UCL Institute of Health Informatics (IHI), established in August 2014, aims to conduct high-quality, data-intensive research to improve health outcomes locally, nationally, and globally. IHI offers one of the UK's largest and most highly regarded teaching programmes in health informatics and health data science, and hosts one of the four UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training in AI in Healthcare, supporting future leaders in the field.

Appointment at Grade 7 requires a PhD; otherwise, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (£39,148 - £41,833), with backdated payment to the PhD submission date.

About you

If you meet the requirements, we invite you to contribute to our mission to improve health outcomes through research. You should have:

  • PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, environmental science, health data science, statistics, geography, or related field
  • Experience analyzing longitudinal health and/or environmental datasets using software like Stata or R
  • Proficiency in cleaning and managing complex databases with statistical software
  • Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in literature searching and review

The role

The Institute of Health Informatics seeks a Research Fellow in Environmental and Health Data Science to join our vibrant community. This position involves delivering a large-scale project funded by The Wellcome Trust, focused on understanding and mitigating health impacts from air pollution sources other than road transport, such as wood burning, industrial sites, farming, and indoor sources.

The Research Fellow will contribute to research initiatives informing policy decisions and public health. The position is full-time (36.5 hours/week), funded until 31 October 2028, with potential extension.
