About the role

 Institute of Health Informatics is looking to appoint a Research Fellow in Environmental and Health Data Science to join our welcoming and vibrant Institute.


This position presents a unique opportunity to play a vital role in delivering a large-scale work program funded by The Wellcome Trust. The broad aim is to understand and mitigate the health impacts of air pollution derived from sources other than road transport ( wood burning, industrial sites, farming, and indoor sources). The Research Fellow will contribute to research initiatives to inform policy decisions and promote public health. A full range of duties is in the attached job description.

This is a full-time post ( hours/week), funded until 31 October , with the possibility of extension.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £39, - £41,) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.

You’ll have:


• PhD or equivalent level of experience in one of the following or a related quantitative field:


Epidemiology


Environmental science


Health data science


Statistics


Geography


• Experience analysing longitudinal health and/or environmental datasets using programmable statistical software (, Stata or R)


• Proficiency in cleaning and managing complex databases using statistical software (, Stata, R)


• Experience writing papers for peer-reviewed journals
