About the Role: 

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Analyst for our Profit Management and Pricing team for Wayfair UK and Ireland. This role is pivotal in ensuring the long-term profitability of our business in the region by developing and executing effective pricing and investment strategies. Based in our London office, you will work on a five-member team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive optimal financial performance.

 

What You’ll Do:
As a Pricing and Profitability Analyst at Wayfair, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape strategies that deliver value to our customers and strengthen supplier partnerships. Your responsibilities will involve diving into data, identifying key trends, and using your insights to support decision-making across various areas of the business. Specific duties include:

  • Profit Margin Optimization:
    • Develop and implement pricing strategies to achieve optimal long-term profit margins for the UK and Ireland markets.
    • Utilize levers such as margin setting, promotional pricing, and investment strategies to balance customer acquisition and profitability.
    • Drive branded pricing initiatives to align with supplier and market dynamics.
  • Pricing and Promotions Exection
    • Update prices on site as our margin strategies evolve, cost models change or in support of promotions.
    • Simulate expected price changes and QA actuals to ensure accuracy. 
  • Strategic Planning and Forecasting:
    • Partner with the Finance team to lead profitability planning and forecasting efforts, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
    • Contribute to scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Business Performance Monitoring and Problem Solving:
    • Tackle ambiguous challenges by leveraging your analytical skills to generate actionable solutions that deliver measurable improvements in profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
    • Work with large datasets to identify trends, perform analyses, and develop reports to drive business decisions across different Commercial functions.
    • Use advanced analytical tools and techniques (Excel, SQL, R, Python) to build data-driven insights and recommend improvements.
    • Collaborate with the Business Trends team to monitor and evaluate overall business performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
    • Develop actionable insights from pricing performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Finance, Marketing, and Supplier Partnerships teams to align pricing strategies with broader business goals.
    • Partner with engineering and analytics teams to enhance pricing tools and systems for improved efficiency and accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant discipline (eg. business, analytics, statistics, economics) 
  • Exceptional Analytical and Quantitative Skills: 
    • Excited about working with and synthesizing big data into actionable insights; comfortable using data software to conduct analyses and synthesize findings 
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Google BigQuery, Excel) and motivated to learn and develop further. Experience with pricing or financial modeling tools is desirable.
  • Strong business acumen: 
    • Ability to understand how various parts of the business interact; can identify and approach problems from a customer or supplier perspective 
  • Exceptional problem-solving and execution skills
    • Ability to make decisions, reprioritize tasks, and draw conclusions in the face of ambiguity 
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work across diverse teams and levels of an organization.
