About the role:

Leadership role within Logistics, setting and driving the standards on Analytics, driving further development of our Analytics capability, including the use of Data Science skills and techniques, and supporting the development of our divisional data strategy and its execution.

Managing and leading a large team of Analysts and Analytics managers to provide data and analytics support to other teams in the Ocado Logistics business unit.

Set the agenda with and act as a partner to senior stakeholders across Logistics to drive improvements in their areas through the application of Analytics and Data.

Support and develop a team of Analysts and Analytics Managers, helping them to grow both their technical and business skills. Provide support for the prioritisation of their work and act as a guide and point of escalation when they encounter difficulties.

Lead development of the team’s capability. Actively work to improve ways of working, team retention, individual development, relationships and interactions with stakeholders, governance, process execution and design.

You will be:

  1. Driving and developing the Analytics capability within Logistics, including the development of Data Science skills, techniques and use of technology.
  2. Line managing a team of Analytics Managers, driving their professional development and motivation to enable the team to meet the constant challenges of an evolving organisation and managing their workload, direct reports and day to day work prioritisation.
  3. Leading and managing the team to provide data, data analysis, tooling, reporting and data based decision making support to a variety of stakeholders in the Logistics area and in some cases in other parts of the business.
  4. Taking the lead on significant cross departmental projects, especially those with a significant data or analytics component, presenting the results and recommendations to senior management.
  5. Being a key stakeholder in the design of Ocado’s future data and technology landscape, providing requirements to the Solutions and technology teams and ensuring that the needs of OL are met.
  6. Driving the improvement of selected KPIs through the work of your team to analyse data for trends and perform root cause analysis.
  7. Proactively managing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Retail partners, ensuring requirements are fully understood, requests are prioritised effectively and the level of service provided by your team remains at the agreed standard.
  8. Actively developing the governance, capabilities and ways of working of the team to continuously raise the team’s collective performance.
  9. Taking a lead in driving the data strategy for Ocado Logistics, ensuring that the strategy is future-proof and will allow the continued high quality of reporting and data provision that our internal and external clients expect.

You may also be expected to:

  • Deputise for the Director of Analytics
  • Occasionally visit the different Ocado Logistics sites across the UK.

About you:

  1. Previous experience leading and coaching a team of Analysts and Analytics Managers or similar roles (essential)
  2. Comprehensive understanding of the behaviours and skills required to effectively lead a large team (essential)
  3. Strong knowledge of data analysis best practice (essential)
  4. Good knowledge of technical tools available for automation, BI and data analysis and the skills required for an effective data analyst team. (essential)
  5. A good knowledge of SQL and Python (essential)
  6. Commercially savvy eye for detail (essential)
  7. Ability to collaborate well with senior managers in other departments in operationally critical activities (essential)
  8. Great communication and presentation skills (essential)
  9. Experience and skill in organising multiple streams of work in parallel (essential)
  10. Ability to effectively influence senior stakeholders (essential)
