Football Radar have been successfully developing statistical models and analytical frameworks for football for over 10 years. We provide advice to football clubs, and we are also a leading provider of betting advice, where we have helped our clients achieve outstanding returns for over 10 years.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced candidate to lead the data science team within our club services business. You will play a key role in determining the strategy and direction of our data science work, helping to improve our ability to support client clubs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about uncovering football insights from data and helping convert those insights into action within clubs.
Requirements
- An extensive knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning techniques - you don’t need to be an expert in any one area, but you need to know what techniques and tools are available, and understand the trade-offs of using different approaches.
- An aspiration to manage, motivate and mentor a high-performing data science team.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases – you can quickly understand a new dataset, perform exploratory analysis, identify data quality issues, and take pragmatic decisions about how to handle imperfect data.
- Strong programming skills, ideally with Python.
- Experience of deploying models to production, ideally in AWS or another cloud environment.
- A passion and further interest in Football or sports analytics.
