At Aviva, we’re looking for a Data Engineer Associate to join our Quantum Data Science Practice—a collaborative, forward-thinking team transforming how data powers decisions across the organisation.

A Bit About the Job:

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Snowflake, DBT, and SQL.

  • Collaborate with consultants and senior engineers to embed best practices and evolve into a high-performing, self-sufficient team.

  • Operate within a structured delivery model aligned to key business areas such as Exposure Management, Pricing, and Data Insights.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions that support reporting, analytics, and strategic initiatives.

  • Enhance data quality, documentation, and lineage to ensure transparency, traceability, and trust in our data assets.

Skills and Experience We’re Looking For:

  • Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code; familiarity with Python is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience in data pipeline development and continuous delivery, ideally using Snowflake and/or DBT.

  • Strong grasp of cloud-based data engineering conceptsand modern best practices.

  • Expertise in data quality assessment and documentation, including profiling, anomaly detection, and schema management.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders; experience in general insurance or the Lloyd’s/London Market is desirable.

  • Startingsalarybetween £50,000 - £60,000 London based or £40,000 - £50,000 National based (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
