Job Summary

Our Commercial Team in London supports the management of ConocoPhillips’ worldwide commodity marketing and trading needs. The 50‑person team works with corporate commercial leadership to develop optimal trading and risk management processes for expanded Crude, NGL, gas, and LNG activities. The Senior Technical Analyst will serve as a strategic and hands‑on leader supporting ConocoPhillips’ global Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platforms, bridging the gap between trading operations and IT.


Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and functional support for ETRM platforms such as TriplePoint, RightAngle, Allegro, and Endur, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with trading workflows.
  • Act as the primary IT liaison on the trade floor, translating trading needs into system capabilities and enhancements.
  • Provide hands‑on support in SQL, .NET, C#, and integration tools to troubleshoot, enhance, and optimize trading systems.
  • Collaborate with trading, risk, scheduling, and compliance teams to define and deliver system enhancements that improve operational efficiency and decision‑making.
  • Partner with local and corporate data engineering teams to ensure real‑time, high‑quality data availability for trading and risk analytics using tools like Power BI and Spotfire.
  • Lead Agile‑based initiatives to modernize legacy systems, implement new capabilities, and drive digital transformation across the trading organization.
  • Serve as a key interface between business users, software vendors, and enterprise IT teams to resolve issues and deliver solutions.
  • Guide and mentor junior analysts, fostering technical and functional growth within the Commercial IT team.
  • Provide basic desktop and infrastructure support as needed to ensure seamless trading operations.

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting business or technical applications.
  • 5+ years of experience with ETRM applications such as RightAngle, Endur, Planlogic, Allegro, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of commercial business including trading, scheduling, and accounting processing.
  • Business analysis and project management skills.
  • Business process mapping and improvement experience.
  • Operational and organizational change management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with people at all levels of the organization.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL.
  • 1+ years of experience with Power BI, Spotfire, .Net, and C#.
  • Desktop and infrastructure support experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, modeling tools, and macros.
  • Demonstrated business analysis and process improvement experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Initiates tasks including developing and implementing small project plans.
  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning and time management to accomplish goals.
  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries.
