Senior Software Engineer (C++) | Robotics | Hybrid | Athens

Description

Ocado Technology is changing the way the world shops using advanced Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Big Data, Cloud and IoT. We develop the innovative software and hardware systems that power Ocado.com, as well as the unique ‘Ocado Smart Platform’ which is being implemented by ambitious retailers across the world from Europe to America, Asia and beyond.

Ocado Technology - Greece (acquisition)

Our R&D department is based in Athens, Greece, where a team of brilliant engineers are developing disruptive material handling systems for the online grocery industry and other retail verticals. We pioneer innovative order fulfilment solutions and last-mile delivery business models tailored for retailers and supply chain-intensive sectors. Our mission is to assist them in overcoming the challenges inherent in modernising their systems and processes to effectively address complex industry issues. Some of the most innovative retailers globally have already partnered with us, and we are delivering products and services for them.

If you are excited about the cross-section where machines meet humans, about the future of work, retail and supply chains, and want to help transform the European logistics industry via Greek technologies, we are interested in getting to know you.

How you'll spend your days...

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll participate effectively in all stages of our systems development lifecycle, collaborating closely with teams across Greece, the USA and the UK.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing code and mentor others through constructive feedback
  • Writing unit tests, integration tests
  • Maintaining, monitoring, and improving existing services
  • Troubleshooting complex issues across software and hardware boundaries (sensors, networking, embedded interfaces)

Requirements

  • Strong C++ skills and solid knowledge of software design
  • Familiarity with Linux development tools
  • Experience in the full Software Development life-cycle from design to deployment
  • Experience with git
  • Understanding of CI, unit testing, testing methodologies, pipelines, code-checkers and other tools to maintain high quality, reliable code
  • Willingness and ability to continue learning and assimilating new technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills both in Greek and English

Nice to have

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with ROS (preferably ROS2) and robotic applications
  • Familiarity with camera integration concepts (such as calibration, camera driver integration, streaming etc)
  • Exposure to deploying ML models in real systems (e.g., using ONNX and/or OpenVINO for efficient inference)
  • Familiarity with CI pipelines
  • Familiarity with serial communication (CAN, CANOpen, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Experience with game development

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong self-motivation to solve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways as part of a team or independently where necessary
  • Ability to share knowledge and drive projects to completion
  • Desire and energy to work in an intellectually demanding, fast‐paced environment
  • Flexible and able to rapidly adapt to change
  • Excellent communication skills and a “team first” mentality

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising machine learning jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Machine Learning Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Machine learning has undergone a transformation that few technology disciplines can match. In the space of three years it has moved from a specialism sitting at the edges of most organisations' technology strategies to a capability that sits at the centre of them. The tools have changed, the expectations have shifted, and the range of industries treating machine learning as a core business function — rather than an experimental one — has expanded dramatically. For job seekers, this creates both opportunity and complexity in roughly equal measure. The machine learning jobs market of 2026 is significantly larger than it was three years ago, but it is also significantly more demanding. Employers have developed more sophisticated expectations, the technical bar for specialist roles has risen, and the landscape of tools, frameworks, and architectural patterns that practitioners are expected to know has broadened considerably. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years are those who understand where the discipline is heading — which specialisms are attracting the most investment, which technologies are reshaping what machine learning engineers and researchers are expected to build, and how the definition of a machine learning career is evolving beyond the model-building core toward a much wider range of roles across the full ML lifecycle. This article breaks down what the UK machine learning jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the curve.

New Machine Learning Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Driving ML Innovation

Machine learning (ML) has transitioned from a specialised field into a core business capability. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.MachineLearningJobs.co.uk , understanding the companies that are scaling, winning investment, or securing high‑impact contracts is crucial. This article highlights the new and high‑growth machine learning employers to watch in 2026, focusing on UK innovators, international firms with significant UK presence, and global platforms investing in machine learning talent locally.
