Reports to: Intelligence and Analytics Lead

Location: East Midlands (EMCCA)

Contract: Full-time

Politically Restricted: No

DBS Check: Not required

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Analyst – Power BI Specialist to join our Research & Intelligence Team and play a key role in strengthening the evidence base that informs regional strategy, policy and investment decisions.

Working closely with policy teams and regional partners, you will analyse and interpret data relating to economic growth, skills and labour markets, inclusive growth, net zero, public transport, cultural capital, health, and deprivation across the East Midlands.

You will use Power BI and other analytical tools to transform complex data into meaningful insights, helping decision-makers understand trends and opportunities across the region. Through effective storytelling with data, you will present clear insights to senior leaders and stakeholders to support evidence-based policymaking.

This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical professional who enjoys working with complex datasets, building impactful dashboards, and collaborating with partners to improve outcomes for communities and businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and develop analytical solutions.
  • Analyse economic, labour market and social datasets to answer key strategic questions.
  • Develop high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports that communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Use Power Query and ETL processes to extract, transform and load data from multiple sources.
  • Design and maintain Power BI semantic models and tabular data models for use across reporting streams.
  • Apply data visualisation and analytical techniques to identify trends and patterns.
  • Maintain and manage Power BI content with accurate documentation.
  • Support Lead Analysts and internal teams with data requests and reporting needs.
  • Present findings to senior leaders and partners, helping shape strategic decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate the following priority skills and experience:

  • Ability to create reporting based on Power BI semantic models.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex insights through dashboards, reports, and data visualisations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to translate technical findings into clear insights for different audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with experience building effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners such as councils or service providers.
  • Experience using Power Query (ETL) to prepare and transform data.
  • Experience creating data models and relationships between datasets.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Tableau or similar.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant role.

Our Values

We are a values-driven organisation and look for colleagues who embody the following principles:

Lifting Our Region

Championing policies and programmes that improve outcomes for our communities.

Working Together

Building strong partnerships across organisations and sectors.

Making an Impact

Turning insight and evidence into action that drives system-wide improvement.

Valuing diverse perspectives and building genuine relationships with colleagues and partners.

Our Mission

We exist to deliver long-term positive impact for the people, places and businesses of the East Midlands.

Our Vision

To make the region more prosperous, sustainable and fairer, helping individuals and businesses create and seize new opportunities.

If you are passionate about using data to influence real-world decisions and shape the future of the East Midlands, we would love to hear from you.

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise machine learning jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach ML, MLOps and deep learning engineering talent. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Machine Learning Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Machine Learning Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and the MLOps, LLM and generative AI hiring trends shaping UK ML careers over the next three years. Machine learning has undergone a transformation that few technology disciplines can match. In the space of three years it has moved from a specialism sitting at the edges of most organisations' technology strategies to a capability that sits at the centre of them. The tools have changed, the expectations have shifted, and the range of industries treating machine learning as a core business function — rather than an experimental one — has expanded dramatically. For job seekers, this creates both opportunity and complexity in roughly equal measure. The machine learning jobs market of 2026 is significantly larger than it was three years ago, but it is also significantly more demanding. Employers have developed more sophisticated expectations, the technical bar for specialist roles has risen, and the landscape of tools, frameworks, and architectural patterns that practitioners are expected to know has broadened considerably. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years are those who understand where the discipline is heading — which specialisms are attracting the most investment, which technologies are reshaping what machine learning engineers and researchers are expected to build, and how the definition of a machine learning career is evolving beyond the model-building core toward a much wider range of roles across the full ML lifecycle. This article breaks down what the UK machine learning jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the curve.
