Salary:£61,620 - £72,592 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern:12 Month Secondment | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

This is an exciting secondment opportunity to undertake a specialist role supporting data professionals who are improving our data assets across the entire SSE group. By treating data as an asset SSE can gain better insights, drive better quality decisions, and bring new products and services to market, all supporting the goal of a just transition to net zero.

You will collaborate with data owners, data managers and data stewards to co-ordinate and improve group wide data cataloguing, ensuring SSE’s data assets are easy to find, fit for purpose and trusted. The role focuses on embedding best practices and effectively making data assets discoverable and useable through the creation of clear and consistent metadata presented via a data catalogue and a data marketplace.

You will

In a Typical Day You Will Be

  • Leading collaborative efforts to deepen business understanding of data through the curation of meaningful and standardised metadata, including business glossary, data dictionaries and data lineage.
  • Leading the population of centralised data catalogue tooling, and maintenance of the associated frameworks, processes, and user guides.
  • Supporting the promotion of best practice and a healthy data culture across the SSE Group, including leading regular engagements with data stewards to understand their current and emerging needs.
  • Producing and maintaining relevant training material to assist in the education and training of data professionals across the SSE group, with a focus on glossary management and the utilisation of effective tooling.
  • Working with the wider Group Data & Analytics (DnA) function to identify and resolve issues.

You have

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Functional skills in an industry recognised data catalogue (e.g. Informatica, Collibra).
  • Proven experience leading the maintenance of a Business Glossary or a similar controlled vocabulary for classifying information.
  • A strong understanding of data lineage, table structures in database schemas and the interaction between technical and business views of data, including the use of glossaries to describe data.
  • Proficiency in the use of Power BI to manipulate and present data.
