Role Purpose

The Senior BI Analyst/Developer position is an integral part of the Analytics & Insight team within the Digital and Information function. The Senior Developer is responsible for delivering the design and implementation of customer and client facing dashboard solutions using Microsoft Power BI, alongside the on-going support and iterative development requirements on those solutions. This strategic role involves leveraging Microsoft Azure, using best practice and appropriate methodologies, to enhance data-driven decision-making processes and deliver sophisticated analytics that drive client insights. The Senior Developer will serve as a key technical lead, guiding junior developers and coordinating with senior stakeholders including members of the Sales team, to deliver value to our customers through reporting and insights.

Key Responibilities 

Leadership in BI Development:Develop sophisticated dashboards and reports in Power BI as required, focusing on data visualisations and analytics tailored to meet evolving business needs. An appetite to challenge and critique data integrity to ensure meaningful and accurate information to support the business reporting requirements.

Advanced Data Solutions Design:Architect robust data models and database strategies utilising Microsoft Azure to enhance data integration and facilitate comprehensive BI environments that support business decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Support:Serve as a senior BI partner to business stakeholders, building strong relationships and ensuring that BI initiatives are closely aligned with key business strategies. Regularly engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and refine BI tools to better serve their decision-making needs.

Strategic Analytics Implementation:Utilise advanced analytics to extract strategic insights that influence business outcomes. Lead efforts in predictive and prescriptive analytics within Power BI to forecast trends and model business scenarios.

Collaboration & Development:Partner with other developers and data engineers to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement across the BI team and the wider business. Own BI initiatives, ensuring they deliver valuable insights, and are adopted by business end-users.

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Reqiurements

Experience:At least + years of significant experience in BI development, with a focus on Microsoft Power BI, delivering client and customer facing dashboards. Strong ability to analyse data and implement BI solutions that directly impact clients, business strategies and outcomes.Data Visualisations:Ability to design visually appealing reports and dashboards, using initiative to design effective data visualisations to convey insights to stakeholders.Communication:Excellent communication skills with proven ability to engage, influence, and provide critical insights to senior management and key stakeholders including external clients.Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively with development teams, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to streamline Power BI development processes using Azure DevOps.Expertise in Power BI:Proficiency in creating complex Power BI reports, dashboards, power query, DAX, data models, data integration from various data sources.Data Modelling:Strong understanding of data modelling concepts including relationships, DAX calculations, and optimisation techniques.Power BI Dataflows:Proficiency in creating and managing Power BI Dataflows to ingest, transform, and prepare data for analysis and reporting.SQL Proficiency:Solid understanding of SQL for data manipulation, querying, and performance tuning.Version Control:Familiarity with version control systems like Git for managing Power BI projects and collaboration.Azure DevOps:Knowledge of using Azure DevOps Boards to manage workload.Governance & Security:Understanding of implementing security best practices for Power BI, including role-based access control (RBAC).Problem-Solving Skills:Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Power BI reports, data connections, and performance.
