Purpose:

As a Research Data Scientist in the Demographic Risk group at Just, you will play a crucial role in analysing health-related data to derive actionable insights that inform decision-making processes and drive improvements in pension provision.

You will work closely with business owners to identify opportunities to drive value from data and lead the development of advanced analytics & predictive modelling algorithms. You will be comfortable working independently and as part of small teams in dynamic projects across Just to develop predictive models, identify health and mortality trends, and implement data-driven solutions.

You will use a variety of data sources (structured and unstructured) to perform analytics and generate actionable insight and models. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvements across systems and processes. You will ensure that our analytics activities comply with data protection law and that we are upholding our values and ethics in how we use data.

Skills and Knowledge
Analysis of structure, semi-structured and unstructured data
Programming - SQL, Python, R, Julia
AI/ML ethics
Understanding of Data Governance concepts and best practice
Quick understanding of business problems and requirements
Strong communication skills
A willingness to learn new skills and adopt to new technologies
Good understanding of Microsoft Server technologies (Azure, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI)
Experience
Strong experience of working as a Data Scientist or equivalent role, in applying statistical models and machine learning algorithms
Experience and ability to respond to business needs by identifying appropriate statistical methodologies and presenting insight for decision making
Attention to detail & problem-solving skills
Relationship building skills and collaborative working style
Experience with IT development processes and delivery lifecycles; development methodology; release strategy and configuration management; development tools, and applications across full project lifecycles
Experience with Power BI or a similar data visualisation tool is desirable
Exposure to C# or VB.NET, PowerShell and web technologies (JavaScript, ASP.NET, etc.) is desirable
