We have an excellent opportunity with our long-established Manufacturing client for a skilled Mechanical Designer. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in designing and developing innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges. This role requires proficiency in various design software and tools, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.


Your responsibilities for the role will be as follows:

  1. Develop detailed mechanical designs and schematics using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  2. Utilise SolidWorks and other design tools to create 3D models and assemblies.
  3. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
  4. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to integrate logic controllers into mechanical systems.
  5. Perform simulations using MATLAB and Simulink to validate design concepts.
  6. Apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate specifications and tolerances in designs.
  7. Prepare documentation for design reviews, including reports and presentations.
  8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in mechanical design technologies.
  9. Assist with the creation of Bill of Materials and the creation of prototype machines.


You must have the following skills and experience:

  1. Proficiency in CAD software, SolidWorks, is essential.
  2. Experience with LabView for system integration is advantageous.
  3. Strong understanding of mechanical principles and components.
  4. Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques would be preferred.
  5. Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink for modelling and simulation tasks is also an advantage.


The hours of work are 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday with a 3.30pm finish on a Friday. This is an initial Temporary role with the potential to become permanent.
