Junior/Mid/Senior Data Scientist - Hybrid, London

Location:London (hybrid: 3 days in office in Victoria)

Contract Type:Full Time

Role Level:Junior/Mid/Senior

Salary:Junior - £30,000 - £40,000; Mid-Level - £40,000 - £50,000; Senior - £50,000 - £80,000

Reporting Line:Head of Analytics

Direct Reports:TBC

The Role

Prospect is on a mission to revolutionise decision making in sport. Our analytical solutions support decision making from the field through to the board room, helping our performance clients win trophies across four different sports, and earning awards for our commercial clients. We operate in four primary lines of business: Performance Analytics, Sporting Product Analytics, Marketing Analytics & Execution, and Consulting & Advisory.

Since closing our seed funding round in June 2021, Prospect has collaborated with rights holders, clubs, investors, broadcasters, and other sports industry stakeholders. We seek a candidate passionate about sports and analytics, eager to explore the intersection of the two. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, data scientist/ML engineer, and communicator, with a solid understanding of statistical methods. You will work within cross-functional teams to address challenges and support decision makers across the sporting landscape, applying advanced analytics and modeling techniques.

Junior Data Scientist Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, developing, and validating machine learning models for performance, product, and commercial applications.
  • Clean, transform, and analyze complex datasets.
  • Contribute to production-ready Python codebases.
  • Create visualizations and client-facing presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other teams to deliver solutions.

Capabilities

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in Python (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services is required.

Mid-Level Data Scientist Responsibilities

  • Lead individual workstreams from design to deployment.
  • Build and monitor predictive models.
  • Translate insights into actionable deliverables.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues.

Capabilities

  • 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience with supervised models (forecasting, regression, classification) and unsupervised models (clustering).
  • Experience with prescriptive analytics is a plus.
  • Code quality, version control, and CI/CD familiarity.
  • Strong client communication and project delivery skills.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services is required.

Senior Data Scientist Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-stream projects and analytics teams.
  • Define modeling strategy and coding standards.
  • Mentor team members and support professional development.
  • Engage with clients to drive data-informed strategy.

Capabilities

  • 6+ years relevant experience.
  • Deep expertise in advanced machine learning and optimization.
  • Fluency in Python, MLOps, and cloud deployment.
  • Leadership in technical delivery and stakeholder engagement.
