Engineering Director

Company

The North East based organisation focuses on delivering electrification systems to their market that is moving to greener alternatives.

The Engineering Director will develop and grow a world-class global team of Software and Control Engineers to accelerate product development and support customer integration projects.

Role

  • Leading and developing Global Software & Control Engineering function
  • Develop product lines including power electronics, motors, thermals, and energy storage
  • Setting clear objectives and key results for the team and driving the team to execute and achieve them with first-time-right and staying on-time.
  • Driving the team to support Applications, Product, and Sales on new business opportunities with technical support including RFQ review/preparation, design reviews, and discussions with customers.
  • Supporting Operations for any manufacturing or quality issues
  • Partnering with global software service providers
  • Developing the control algorithm for next-generation products and increasing automation across all activities.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Software, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or related engineering field
  • Background in Embedded Software/System (e.g., C programming), Control, or Advanced Control.
  • Extensive experience of leading software or control teams with 10+ years.
  • Experience in the whole software development lifecycle (e.g., V-model)

Additional Information and Requirements

  • The Engineering Director must be able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Beneficial but not essential is experience with power electronics products, experience using MATLAB/SIMULINK and Atlassian software, and functional safety standards
  • Able to travel both within and outside of the UK
  • The role will be based in the Newcastle upon Tyne site.
