Role Summary

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Director of Data & Insights is responsible for leading the Data & Insight team at TalkTalk to provide actionable insights that create value, drive business growth and operational efficiency.

Responsible for strategic planning & direction, prioritisation, overseeing effective execution of the data strategy, and accountable for data governance, including stakeholder management, and ensuring data-driven decision-making across the company.

This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of data analytics, data science, data engineering, business intelligence tools, and data operations and management.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading data & insights teams and delivering impactful insights to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the data strategy in alignment with the company’s goals.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data analytics, data science, data engineering, business intelligence, and data operations and data management professionals.

  • Foster a data-driven culture and innovation within the organisation.

Insight, Analytics & Data Science:

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced analytics models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of data insights and predictive models.

  • Enable effective collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business growth and efficiency.

  • Understanding customer behaviour and preferences to drive strategies, provides insights into performance and user experience.

Data Engineering:

  • Oversee the design, build and maintenance of the infrastructure required for data collection, storage, and processing.

  • Ensure cost effective development and maintenance of robust data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure the availability and quality of data.

  • Oversee the management of data infrastructure, including databases and our cloud-based data platform.

  • Ensure data governance and compliance with relevant data privacy and security regulations.

Business Intelligence & Reporting:

  • Drive the development and deployment of business intelligence tools and dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of reports and analytics to support strategic decision-making.

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.

Data Operations & Management:

  • Ensures policies, standards & guardrails are in place to maintain data quality, accuracy, consistency in day to operations of data systems.

  • Collaborate with risk and compliance to ensures compliance with relevant policies and regulations for gathering, storing, transacting and processing data.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as an ambassador for data & insights, acting as key liaison between the data & insight team and other functions, including marketing, finance, operations, and product.

  • Communicate complex data insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry experts.
