Data Scientist – Generative AI & NLP Focus


Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of AI and Natural Language Processing? We're looking for a skilled Data Scientist with a focus on Generative AI and NLP to join a dynamic, forward-thinking internal tech team within a complex and highly secure industry.


About the Role:


As part of an internal innovation team, you'll develop cutting-edge NLP solutions to support a wide range of high-impact business functions. From designing intelligent data pipelines to deploying production-ready models, your work will directly shape the future of AI within the organisation.


This is a unique opportunity to work on meaningful problems across domains such as engineering, manufacturing, and digital transformation—leveraging your expertise to drive data-driven decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Engage with internal stakeholders to gather and understand complex data needs.
  • Design, develop, and implement robust NLP models using state-of-the-art LLM and RAG techniques.
  • Clean, transform, and manage data using modern frameworks (ETL, ESB, APIs).
  • Ensure scalability and maintainability of AI solutions for long-term success.
  • Stay current with trends in Generative AI and NLP to inform tech strategy.
  • Support Agile project delivery in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment.


Candidate Background:


  • Strong background in Data Science and Machine Learning, particularly in NLP.
  • Hands-on experience with Python and relevant data engineering tools (SQL, NoSQL, Parquet).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Interest in shaping strategy and influencing future AI capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe as required.
  • Experience with containerisation tools like Docker (desired)
  • Background in aerospace, industrial or defence sectors (desired)
