Our client is one of the UK's largest Building Societies, who set out to help people create a better future by providing a good place for people's savings and helping people own their own home. Its a very exciting time to join the team as they invest in their digital transformation journey as well exciting greenfield projects.

Their core Mortgage and Savings platform is developed internally and is supported in house alongside other applications.

The Role

You'll be Joining a rapidly expanding Engineering team, where you'll collaborate with talented Data and Software Engineers and engage closely with stakeholders throughout our Technology function and wider business. Your role is pivotal in driving innovative solutions forward, aligning with an ambitious change agenda.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a subject matter expert, a key responsibility of this role is to coach and mentor a team of Data Engineers. The role will require a level of 'hands on' activity to embed modern data engineering practices in the team. There will also be a requirement to oversee architectural designs and principles, ensuring these are implemented effectively by the engineering team.

These key components coupled with excellent communication skills to provide direction for the Engineering team will mean activity is aligned to the overall objectives of the Department.

Our ideal candidate will have:
* Relevant Azure certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate
* Ability to oversee architectural designs and principles, ensuring these are implemented effectively
* Competent in Agile methodologies and delivering change
* Experienced in the design and development of business intelligence infrastructure utilising cloud and data warehousing (SQL) technology
* Excellent leadership - gaining the trust and respect of own team and Senior management
* Experienced people/line manager with proven record of leadership and coaching outcomes, resulting in a highly motivated, focused team
* Ability to interpret corporate direction and identify implications for the Department
* Experience of business case creation, benefit identification, planning and management

Salary & Benefits
There is a very competitive package with a starting salary of £80,000, alongside 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days. There's an 10% Pension contribution and an annual Bonus.
