Bridging the gap between Utilities and data-driven decision-making

Location: Remote
Length: 6 months initially, likely to extend
We're looking for a Data Engineer to support a major data improvement programme within the water sector. The work focuses on modernising data infrastructure, supporting regulatory reporting, and making operational data more accessible across the business.
You'll be joining an experienced data team and playing a key role in how the company collects, transforms and uses data with a clear focus on reliability, quality, and impact.
Responsibilities:
Building and maintaining robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL Server
Developing efficient, reliable processes for ingesting and transforming data
Supporting the migration from legacy systems into cloud-based environments
Collaborating with analysts, engineers, and business teams to deliver clean, usable datasets
Writing well-documented, reusable code and helping standardise data processes
Proficiency in SQL, including writing stored procedures, performance tuning, and transforming data for business use
Solid experience with Azure Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Azure SQL in a production environment.
Confident working with large and complex datasets, ideally within a regulated or structured setting.
Experience in the water, utilities, or infrastructure sectors is a strong advantage, but not essential.
