Data Engineer - Greater Manchester - Hybrid - £55k - £65k


I am working with a financial services client, a forward-thinking organization using data to drive innovation and business performance. They’re expanding their team and are looking for a talented Data Engineer with experience in Azure and Databricks to join the team.


Salary and Benefits

  • £55,000 – £65,000 salary depending on experience

The Role:

As a Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining high-quality data pipelines and architectures that support our business intelligence and analytics goals. You'll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to deliver reliable and performant data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse, and Databricks.
  • Build and maintain Delta Lake architectures to support both batch and real-time processing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, performance tuning, and cost efficiency across cloud services.
  • Contribute to DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.


What do I need to apply for the role:

  • Solid hands-on experience with Azure data tools, including Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL.
  • Strong proficiency with Databricks, including Spark, Delta Lake, and notebooks.
  • Skilled in Python and SQL for data transformation and processing.
  • Experience with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong analytical mindset and effective communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with real-time/streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Event Hubs).
  • Familiarity with data governance tools such as Purview or Unity Catalog.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines or data science collaboration.
