Data Engineer (Snowflake) - Nationwide Charity

Location: London-based (Hybrid - 1 day per week in the office)

Contract: FTC - 23 months

£56,500

Overview:

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established nationwide charity for a Snowflake Data Engineer . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing and developing data products and services that improve how data is accessed and used across the organisation. You'll help ensure data is accurate, timely, and fit for purpose, supporting a wide range of departments and strategic goals.

Role Summary:

As a Data Engineer, you will work to connect systems, streamline business processes, and optimise data warehouse platforms. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to deliver bespoke BI solutions, ranging from custom queries to dashboards and reports. Your work will transform raw data into actionable insights that drive the charity's mission forward.

In addition to building and maintaining data integration pipelines, you'll help ensure the ongoing performance and reliability of the charity's core data platforms, which include Snowflake, and Tableau.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, build, and manage APIs and data pipelines, enabling smooth data flow between systems including websites and Salesforce.
Develop and maintain data ingestion, storage, and visualisation tools to support organisation-wide reporting and analytics.
Collaborate with external providers to enable data integration across third-party platforms and partners.
Build dashboards and visual reports to convey KPIs and other metrics tailored to stakeholder needs.
Ensure all components of the data architecture are up to date, well-maintained, and aligned with best practices.
Document data flows, including data sources, transformations, destinations, and schedules for improved transparency and governance.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement BI tools and reporting solutions, balancing technical and user needs.
Support and enhance existing analytics tools to ensure ongoing suitability and performance.
Key Skills & Experience (Essential):

Proven experience in Data Engineering, particularly with Snowflake .
Strong experience in data integration and business intelligence development.
Proficient in SQL , Python , and R .
Skilled in using BI and data visualisation tools such as Tableau and Power BI .
Familiar with Agile (Scrum) methodologies and collaboration tools like the Atlassian suite.
Experience developing canonical data models and managing APIs and associated tools.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
Desirable:

Certifications in data engineering, analytics, or related platforms (e.g. IBM Data Engineering, Google Professional Data Engineering, SnowPro, Tableau).
Experience with data modelling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio .
Prior experience working within the not-for-profit or charity sector.
Additional Information:

The role is based in London , with hybrid working of 1 day per week in the office.
Occasional travel may be required to other UK or Ireland locations.
Salary: £56,500 per annum. Benefits - 26 days holiday rising annually, Perkbox, Life Assurance, Pension from 9% to 16%, BUPA Dental
