Data Engineer - Azure / Microsoft Fabric

City of London - Hybrid Working

Circa £55-65k + Bonus & Benefits

Our client, a forward-thinking and globally connected staffing & consulting organization is seeking a skilled and drivenData Engineerto join their growing Data & Analytics team. Based in the City of London, this role presents a fantastic opportunity for someone with 2-3 years of data engineering experience who is passionate about building robust data solutions usingMicrosoft AzureandMicrosoft Fabrictechnologies.

This is a hands-on technical role where you'll work closely with the Lead Data Architect and collaborate across the business to design, build, and support scalable data infrastructure that powers business intelligence, reporting, and analytics. The ideal candidate will be eager to grow their skills and take ownership of impactful data projects within a fast-paced, modern tech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data warehousing solutions using Azure services
  • Work with stakeholders to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Develop tabular and multidimensional data models and perform DAX queries within Power BI
  • Support the integration and management of Microsoft Fabric as part of the evolving data architecture
  • Participate in the full project lifecycle from design to deployment
  • Optimise ETL/ELT processes and propose enhancements to existing systems
  • Implement and maintain API integrations
  • Collaborate with users, analysts, and developers to drive data performance improvements
  • Document data models, pipelines, and processes, ensuring clarity and maintainability
  • Provide third-line support and resolve data-related tickets in a timely manner

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a data engineering or similar technical role
  • Hands-on experience with key Microsoft Azure services:
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Synapse Analytics
    • Azure Data Lake Storage
    • Azure SQL Database
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and warehousing concepts
  • Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala)
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, or a strong willingness to learn
  • Experience using version control tools like Git and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies and development team collaboration
  • Experience working with Power BI and DAX
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, or Databricks
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum working practices
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate)
  • Background in consulting or professional services
  • Understanding of data governance and data security principles

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of DevOps, Fetch XML, or related tooling
  • Awareness of AI products and how they intersect with data workflows
  • Familiarity with the recruitment or staffing industry
