In the role of Data Engineer, you will play a crucial part in shaping and maintaining Avado's data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. You will design, develop, and support robust ETL processes, maintain high-quality data models, and create insightful reporting visuals using SQL, Power BI, and SSRS. Your expertise will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and optimisation of our data workflows, proactively resolving complex challenges and facilitating effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to support Avado’s strategic objectives. 

Role responsibilities 

Design, build, and maintain robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes from diverse data sources, ensuring efficient integration and scalability. 


Develop and maintain data models to support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence needs. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance across all systems. 
Build and manage insightful visual reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI and SSRS to facilitate data-driven decision-making. 
Implement proactive data quality checks and continuous monitoring processes to maintain accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data assets. 
Create and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation to support effective knowledge sharing within the team and across the wider organisation. 
Analyse and optimise existing data workflows for enhanced performance, costefficiency, and scalability. 
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather data requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions to support strategic business objectives. 
Maintain and manage version control of data workflows and scripts using source control tools such as Git. 
Develop automated scripts and utilise APIs for efficient and reliable data extraction and integration 

What we’re looking for:

RequiredKnowledge of Generative AI principles and their practical application in data engineering contexts. Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of data warehousing. Experience in building and maintaining ETL tools, such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory. Strong SQL skills, with the ability to build and support complex stored procedures, views, and functions. Experience in developing and maintaining report visuals using tools such as Power BI and SSRS. Excellent problem-solving skills, including performance tuning and optimisation. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively in both technical and non-technical environments, adapting communication style to suit different audiences, managing your workload effectively, raising issues proactively, seeking support, and presenting ideas confidently.


DesirableExperience with Source Control tools such as Git.
Experience extracting data via APIs.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
