This is the job

Joining the AA-X family as a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality data outcomes via modern data sourcing, integration, and modelling techniques.

You will be working as part of Data delivery teams that are specifically aligned to AA Business Areas to deliver data to Visualisation and Reporting or Analytics solutions.

What will I be doing?

  • Deliverables: Create data products to a high quality and in-line with Data Engineering Patterns and Frameworks
  • Compliance, Regulation and Risk: Ensure that all code delivered meets the requirements of the patterns and frameworks. This should also include Policies external to the Data Team, such as those created for Information Security and Data Privacy such as Secure Coding Standards, Third Party Components and GDPR
  • Automation: Ensure that the appropriate methodologies are utilised to make sure that all deliveries are developed in such a way to allow automation of its promotion and testing within continuous development pipelines
  • Collaboration: Working effectively with individuals within the sprint team(s) and the wider engineering team
  • Estimation and Planning: Support the creation of estimates and delivery within an agile environment
  • Delivery Reliability: Identify and implement continuous improvement processes to maximise the likelihood of delivery to Time and Quality

What do I need?

  • Demonstrable working experience with delivering data engineering solutions utilising Databricks, Python & PySpark – taking complex designs through to solution
  • Strong grasp of modern data technology i.e., distributed systems, data streaming, batch processing, event-based architectures etc. and how to apply them
  • Experience building effective continuous development and integration processes
  • Ability to present ideas well to a variety of colleagues and clients, and author clear and succinct documents
  • Passionate to build high-quality products driving forward change for the business
  • An understanding and knowledge of secure coding methodologies
