About the Company

We help organisations connect with the communities they serve through data science, behavioural insights and digital technology.

Our cloud-based technology combines machine-learning AI, configurable solutions and sophisticated web applications to support hundreds of thousands of customer interactions every week. We work across Social Housing, Local Authority and Healthcare, helping our customers deliver better experiences for the communities they serve.

We are growing our Technology function and are looking for a technically minded Business Analyst to join the team.

The Role

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will bridge the gap between business requirements and software development teams, helping to ensure high-quality solutions are delivered across our AI-led products.

This is a hands-on role for a Business Analyst who is comfortable working alongside engineers and discussing technical solutions, while also being able to translate complex information for customers and non-technical stakeholders.

You will work within Scrum teams, collaborating with customers, solution partners, product stakeholders, developers and QA. You will use Jira and Confluence to manage requirements and documentation, alongside product analytics and data to understand user behaviour and support evidence-led decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elicit and document business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business processes, user needs and desired outcomes

  • Analyse and document complex processes, workflows and data flows

  • Maintain and prioritise the product backlog in Jira

  • Support sprint planning, refinement, reviews and retrospectives

  • Work closely with developers to understand technical solutions, integrations and data models

  • Translate technical concepts into clear language for non-technical stakeholders

  • Review APIs, data structures and system behaviour to ensure requirements are feasible and testable

  • Identify gaps, dependencies and risks early in the delivery process

  • Use product analytics and data to understand user behaviour and measure the impact of changes

  • Use SQL to query and validate data where required

  • Define success measures for new features and assess outcomes following release

  • Work with QA to develop test approaches and ensure acceptance criteria are testable

  • Support testing to validate that solutions meet stakeholder expectations

  • Maintain requirements, process maps, solution documentation and decision logs in Confluence

  • Use data and customer insight to support backlog prioritisation and product decisions

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working

About You

You will have 2+ years' experience working as a Business Analyst within a software development environment, with a strong technical understanding or aptitude.

You should be comfortable moving between business and technical conversations and have the confidence to challenge requirements and proposed solutions constructively.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst within a software development environment

  • Experience working within a Scrum team

  • Strong experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Experience managing and prioritising a product backlog

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and Agile delivery

  • Experience using Jira and Confluence

  • Ability to understand technical solutions, including APIs, integrations, databases and data models

  • Strong requirements elicitation, analysis and process mapping skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable Experience

  • SQL, including joins, aggregations and filtering

  • PostHog or similar product analytics platforms

  • Experience with events, funnels, cohorts, retention and feature adoption

  • Atlassian Rovo or similar AI-powered tools

  • Experience with cloud-based web applications

  • Experience working with data-led or AI products

  • A/B testing and behavioural analytics

  • BPMN, UML, Miro or Lucidchart

  • Agile certifications such as CSM, PSM or PSPO

  • Business analysis qualifications such as BCS or IIBA

  • Experience within Social Housing, Local Authority or Healthcare

What We're Looking For

  • Analytical, curious and evidence-led

  • Technically minded and comfortable working with software engineers

  • Able to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences

  • Confident challenging requirements and technical decisions constructively

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a changing environment

  • Proactive in identifying risks and potential issues

  • Focused on delivering measurable value for users and the business

  • Committed to continuous learning and improving ways of working

Why Join?

You will have the opportunity to work across business analysis, software delivery, data and AI, while working closely with experienced engineering and product teams in a collaborative environment.
