This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a fast growing TechBio scale up where engineering plays a critical role in shaping product, platform, and customer impact. You will take ownership of the engineering function, bringing structure, consistency, and leadership to a highly capable technical team while working closely with executive leadership on long term technical direction.

The Company
They are a venture backed technology business operating at the intersection of data, AI, and life sciences. Their platform enables global pharmaceutical organisations to make sense of vast amounts of public and proprietary scientific data, uncovering insights that would otherwise remain hidden. With strong funding, a growing customer base, and a clear mission, they are now scaling their technology and teams to meet increasing demand.

The Role

  • Take ownership of the engineering function, leading senior engineers across backend, platform, full stack, and data disciplines.
  • Act as the primary engineering leader, allowing the wider technology leadership to focus on data science and machine learning innovation.
  • Set clear standards for engineering best practice, architecture, delivery, and technical decision making.
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are well planned, aligned, and delivered effectively.
  • Stay close to technical design and architecture, providing guidance and challenge without being hands on day to day.
  • Partner with product, data science, and client facing teams to ensure the platform is robust, scalable, and delivering real customer value.
  • Help shape and evolve a strong, collaborative engineering culture within a remote first environment.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial experience leading engineering teams within product led or platform based technology businesses.
  • Background in backend or full stack engineering with a solid architectural perspective.
  • Experience managing and mentoring senior engineers, with the credibility to lead highly capable technical specialists.
  • Proven ability to bring structure, standards, and consistency to growing engineering teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a startup or scale up environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity.
  • Confident communicator who can work effectively across technical and non technical stakeholders.

What They Offer

  • Salary between £120,000 and £140,000 plus a discretionary bonus.
  • Fully remote working within the UK.
  • Opportunity to shape the engineering direction of a high impact AI and data platform.
  • A key leadership role within a growing, well funded business with long term progression opportunities.

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise machine learning jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach ML, MLOps and deep learning engineering talent. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
