Research Scientist Human Attention and Spatial AI

London - Remote - x2 a month visits

The Role
You will design and build models that predict, interpret, and simulate human attention and behaviour in visual and spatial contexts. Working closely with the founders, you will influence both the technical roadmap and future diversification into new application areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing machine learning and computer vision models focused on human attention, perception, and intent
  • Designing and running experiments independently across visual and spatial data
  • Working with multimodal and temporal data such as gaze, motion, and interaction signals
  • Contributing to new research directions and exploratory projects beyond the initial domain
  • Publishing research in leading academic venues while working on applied problems

Your Skills and Experience

  • PhD or near completed PhD, or equivalent research experience, in computer vision, machine learning, neuroscience, cognitive science, robotics, HCI, or a related field
  • Strong publication record, ideally at venues such as CVPR or ICCV, or equivalent research output
  • Hands on experience with Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Ability to design, run, and analyse machine learning experiments end to end
  • Clear interest in human behaviour, perception, attention, or cognitive modelling
  • Comfortable working in a very small team with ambiguity and open ended research problems

Useful or Nice to Have

  • Gaze modelling, eye tracking, visual saliency, or attention modelling
  • Spatial AI, 2D or 3D vision, simulation, or digital twins
  • EEG or other physiological signals combined with computer vision
  • Multimodal or temporal modelling, egocentric video, or embodied AI

What They Offer

  • Meaningful equity as an early and influential hire
  • Flexibility on location across London, Bristol, or remote working
  • Freedom to continue publishing and shaping your own research agenda
  • The chance to work directly with founders and have real ownership over technical direction

How to Apply
If you are excited by human centred computer vision and want to take on a founding level research role in a small, ambitious team, apply to find out more.

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise machine learning jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach ML, MLOps and deep learning engineering talent. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
