Applied Data Scientist - AI & National Security Programme

📍 Cheltenham Area - on site

The Opportunity

We are seeking talented Applied Data Scientists to join a cutting-edge programme, supporting UK intelligence clients.

You will be part of a programme focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics, and modern cloud-native technologies within a highly secure environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Applied Data Scientist, you will:

Work on complex challenges across AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning

Build, train and deploy models using tools such as:

PyTorch

TensorFlow

scikit-learn

Apply modern data science techniques to real-world, mission-critical problems

Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy scalable solutions using cloud-based tooling

The Environment

You'll be operating within an AI Lab-style model, where:

Teams are encouraged to experiment, prototype, and explore emerging technologies

Requirements evolve-flexibility and curiosity are key

Innovation is prioritised over maintaining legacy systems

New ideas are actively tested and adoptedThis workstream is expected to be one of the most advanced and technically exciting areas within the programme, offering the opportunity to push the boundaries of applied AI in a real-world setting.

What We're Looking For

Strong experience in applied data science, machine learning or AI

Hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or sklearn

Experience working with NLP or advanced analytics (desirable)

Ability to move from research and prototyping into production environments

A mindset suited to experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning

Security Requirements

Active SC (Security Check) clearance is required

Must be a UK Sole National due to the nature of the work and client requirements
