Data Migration Lead

London (Hybrid)
£75,000 - £90,000 + benefits

We're partnering with a fast-growing fintech organisation building a modern, cloud-native banking platform used by financial institutions across the UK. Following continued client growth and major transformation programmes, they are looking to hire a senior data leader to own and drive data migration and broader data delivery initiatives across complex banking environments.

This is a high-impact, business-critical role sitting between data, product, and programme delivery. The successful candidate will act as the primary owner for all migration and data-related activity across client implementations, while also helping shape the wider data capability including reporting, governance, pipelines, and operational MI.

The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, working directly with stakeholders, and leading from the front.

The Role

This role combines elements of:

  • Data Migration Leadership
  • Data Product Ownership
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Data Delivery / Programme Leadership

You will lead end-to-end migration workstreams across banking transformation programmes, while also owning broader data responsibilities across warehousing, reporting, governance, and operational data capabilities.

The position requires someone commercially minded and highly communicative - not purely technical, and not purely project-management focused.

Key Responsibilities

Data Migration & Delivery

  • Own and lead end-to-end data migration initiatives across client programmes
  • Define migration strategy, governance, mapping standards, validation processes, and cutover plans
  • Oversee all migration phases including discovery, mapping, reconciliation, rehearsal, cutover, and post-go-live support
  • Ensure strong data quality, auditability, governance, and reporting throughout delivery
  • Manage migration risks, dependencies, RAID processes, and stakeholder escalation points

Data Product Ownership

  • Take ownership of broader data capabilities including:
    • Data warehouse
    • Data lake
    • MI & reporting
    • Power BI outputs
    • Data pipelines
  • Help shape how data is structured, governed, surfaced, and consumed internally and externally
  • Work closely with engineering and product teams to define scalable data solutions
  • Explore opportunities to improve automation and efficiency across data processes and apply AI-aware thinking to all areas.

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Act as the senior client-facing lead for all data-related discussions
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language
  • Build trusted relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Lead workshops, delivery discussions, and governance meetings

What They're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Strong background within banking or financial services
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data migration initiatives
  • Experience operating in senior data leadership, data product, or programme ownership roles
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data mapping
    • Transformation
    • Validation
    • Governance
    • Reconciliation
    • Reporting & MI
  • Experience working with cloud-based data environments and modern tooling

Soft Skills & Leadership

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable leading clients and giving clear direction
  • Able to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Strong ownership mentality with the ability to operate autonomously
  • Confident working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Power BI and modern reporting ecosystems
  • Awareness of AI/ML concepts within data platforms
  • Experience working within fintech or digital banking environments

Team & Environment

  • Flexible hybrid working model at the London office
  • Occasional client travel for workshops or programme meetings

Package:

  • £75,000-£90,000 base salary
  • Annual bonus
  • Equity/share scheme
  • Strong pension contribution
  • Private medical cover
  • Electric vehicle scheme
  • Hybrid/flexible working environment

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise machine learning jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach ML, MLOps and deep learning engineering talent. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
