Here at Optum, we are looking for a technical and data-drivenProduct Ownerto join our growing EMIS-X product team on a day-rate contract until the end of December 2025.


You will be joining a team which possesses great knowledge and skills. However, we are a company who embrace new ideas and innovative solutions which can create efficiencies to ensure we continue to deliver value through delivering better care using technology innovation.

You will play a significant part in delivering the entire product lifecycle of our EMIS-X capabilities and shaping the next evolutionary stage in big data health analytics. We will be looking for you to have experience in the Research & Life Sciences industry with excellent technical requirement gathering for user stories.

Please note this isinside IR35 contract until the end of December 2025and whilst this is a remote working role, you will meet with our wider product team on a monthly basis.



What you’ll do


As a Technical Product Owner you will play a significant part in ensuring that we deliver a successful set of data products and services which support Health Analytics use cases on our EMIS-X Analytics platform.


This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team that is driving and delivering the success of data-driven health technology products. Working remotely, you will be responsible for owning and maintaining the data-related product backlog, plus developing user stories and prioritising requirements for the development team.



Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • Own and manage the product backlog.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including data analysts and the wider product and development teams to gather data requirements.
  • Defining clear acceptance criteria for data-related user stories and tasks, providing the data team with a comprehensive understanding of success criteria.
  • Participate in sprint planning meetings with the development team providing input on the prioritization of user stories and technical tasks.
  • Work closely with the development team to address technical issues and challenges.



Who you’ll be


We need you to be an experienced Product Owner with an understanding of relevant data technologies such as SQL, business intelligence tools and data analysis. You will be inquisitive, understanding the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders to deliver the product roadmap to the market and the wider business.


Having worked in an agile environment previously, you will have a proven record of strategic backlog planning and management of software-related products. Collaboration is essential; you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging with technologists and breaking down complex development tasks into manageable deliverables to meet sprint targets.


Other professional and technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;


  • Previous experience and passion for data-related product delivery
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies (eg, SAFe)
  • An awareness/understanding of technologies such as SQL and AWS
  • Strong collaborator with internal and external stakeholders – exposure to working with customers to drive product development
  • Excellent technical problem solving
  • Experience within health care
