As a Technical Data Specialist, you will develop and maintain aircraft maintenance documentation and support operators during maintenance activities.

Working in the landing gear team, you will update Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ATA 32 - landing gear, wheels, and brakes), capturing design changes and ensuring documentation accuracy. Beyond publication, you will provide lifecycle support to operators through daily customer interaction, problem-solving, and maintaining operational continuity. You will also contribute to core manuals including the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and Trouble Shooting Manual (TSM).

Role: Technical Data Engineer
Location: Filton, 60% on-site
Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Salary: £45 per hour via umbrella
Duration: 6-months

Key Responsibilities

Manage authoring for Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Trouble Shooting Manuals (TSM) for landing gear systems.
Analyse design inputs to assess impact on manuals; plan, verify, and incorporate source data.
Provide customer responses via technical request tools, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Oversee subcontracted authoring activities, leading review meetings and ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality targets.
Deliver updates and new content to agreed specifications, schedules, and standards.
Maintain adherence to safety rules, quality processes, and documentation guidelines.
Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and documentation methods.
Represent the team in internal/external meetings and networks, providing customer insights.
Hold or work towards authorisation to validate technical data outputs.
With experience, take on additional responsibilities such as customer interface for technical data, coordinating key documentation subjects for operator portfolios.
Act with integrity, maintaining compliance awareness and supporting sustainable business growth.
Requirements

A solid background in aircraft maintenance or aerospace engineering.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage effectively and assertively.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and excellent organisational skills.
A curious and open-minded approach, always looking for ways to improve processes.
Familiarity with international documentation standards and authoring tools.
Understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance practices, and production processes.
Experience in configuration oversight and control for aircraft projects.
Skills in evaluating risks and identifying opportunities.
The discipline to track follow-up actions through to completion.
A proactive, adaptable and positive mindset with the ability to thrive in change.
