Job Description

Extreme Event Solutions at Verisk (formerly AIR Worldwide) is a leader in the catastrophe modelling space and is looking for a highly passionate, motivated individual to join the Consulting and Client Services Group.  As a member of Verisk’s consulting and client services team based in London you will help our clients navigate and mitigate risks associated with natural and man-made catastrophes by providing exceptional services to our London and international insurance and reinsurance clients.

This is a highly client facing role and your responsibilities will include client account management, client training, leading consulting projects as well as answering client questions. Use your technical, analytical, and project management skills to work with clients to enhance their usage of the Verisk suite of solutions and help troubleshoot any software-related issues.

You will also work closely across the software development and product teams and there is the potential to participate in research projects.

Proficiency in oral and written communication is highly desirable, particularly the ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively. Prior experience in the visualisation and communication of risk e.g. via animations, video, infographics or other means would be desirable (but not essential).

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

  • Provide day to day client support helping clients use Verisk’s software platforms and understand Verisk’s catastrophe models and their output, includes Touchstone, Touchstone Re and Analyze Re.
  • Act as the primary contact to assigned Verisk clients for all support needs.
  • Provide presentations and training sessions to clients to help clients understand and use Verisk’s software and models.
  • Perform sophisticated risk analyses using Verisk's cutting-edge technology for insurers, brokers, and other financial intermediaries in the internationally expanding business of catastrophe risk management for perils such as earthquake, tropical cyclone and flood.
  • Add value to modelled loss results through customisation of output tailored to the needs of clients.
  • Communicate directly with clients leading consulting projects.
  • Help clients reliably assess and manage their catastrophe loss potential through interpretation of modelling results.
  • Perform portfolio management studies for understanding model change.
  • Help to develop bespoke solutions for client’s workflow needs potentially using coding in SQL, R and other languages. Includes the Analyze Re API suite for bespoke reinsurance modelling requirements.
  • Monitor emerging risks and trends in catastrophe risk management.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, a solid understanding of probability concepts, excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to client services.
  • Proficiency in catastrophe software is required, preferably Verisk’s Touchstone, Touchstone Re and/or Analyze Re or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills are also required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work
  • Experience using Microsoft Office is essential including Excel
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in the insurance/ reinsurance market, especially the Lloyd’s market is preferred.
  • Ability to code in languages such as SQL, R, Python will be highly beneficial. Knowledge of ArcGIS would be desirable.

Education:

  • A degree in a related field is required, preferably in  Geography, Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
