The purpose of the role is to deploy, maintain and enhance the tools used by the department to deliver services to users throughout the business. We currently use the Elastic stack extensively (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) but you’ll be part of a wider Data Science department that works on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, ML, Databricks, and GraphQL.

This is an opportunity for a talented individual to become a key member of an expanding team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about technology and looking to work in a diverse, fast paced team. You will be working in a mixed team with a variety of skill sets, so it’s

important to be a self-starter and to be capable of learning new skills quickly.

What you’ll be doing

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

Delivery of solutions using the Elastic Stack and various other technology platforms Ongoing support of the Elastic stack and products delivered Working with other development teams to ensure data feeds are fit for purpose and consumed correctly and accurately Assisting junior engineers in planning the implementation of technical features Stays up to date with technical knowledge in all technical skills and coach others on the team to improve their skills in these areas Identify areas for improvements and implement new innovations to enhancement our products Taking part in Scrum rituals such as stand-ups, planning sessions, demos and retrospectives Taking part in team activities such as collaborative development and code reviews Taking part in cross-team activities such as knowledge-sharing and documentation Building relationships with other teams right across the group

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

A complete understanding of the Elastic stack (including expert knowledge of Logstash, Kibana, Watcher, REST endpoints and painless scripting) Experience of working with both operational and business data sets including analysis, reporting, and alerting Experience of working with real-time systems and the challenges they present Good understanding of Azure, especially event hubs and other data processing technologies Competent in writing scripts as required – Python preferred Experience coaching and mentoring Junior Engineers Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations

Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:

Experience working with Kubernetes and Docker, especially in an Azure cloud environment Demonstrable Linux administration experience – Ubuntu preferred SQL Database experience (MS SQL Server) Experience of using Azure Devops, especially code repositories and deployment pipelines An interest in Data Science Methodologies Experience successfully leading BAU projects In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies
