Summary of Role

Our client is looking for a dynamic and ambitious Hardware Engineer to work within their Power business. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, this is a creative and stimulating role offering excellent development opportunities and the chance to work alongside our highly skilled technical team. The ability to work on projects from initial concept stage, developing the concepts through to final production units. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain our world class power product portfolio and technical roadmap.

Main Duties

  1. Working effectively within a multi-disciplined design team, adhering to company policies & procedures
  2. Analogue & Power Electronic product design
  3. Solving complex technical problems on new and existing products from our portfolio
  4. Electronic Schematic capture layout & simulation
  5. Design, commissioning, circuit debug and fault diagnosis through the project lifecycle
  6. Ability to design to cost targets
  7. Awareness and application of DFM&T (Design for Manufacture & Test)
  8. Document Verification and Qualification of products to industry and customer standards
  9. Configuration of product designs and their controlled change.
  10. Prepare technical documents & reports
  11. Support internal & customer discussions, leading in your area of expertise.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  1. Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
  2. Prior exposure and experience within Power Electronics/Design to cost & schedule
  3. Good and demonstrable problem-solving skills with practical laboratory test, circuit & test measurement experience
  4. Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance

Desirable:

  1. Experience with interfacing to RF circuitry and high-speed D/A/A/D conversion
  2. Experience with both RF and Power development
  3. Experience with programmable devices
  4. Experience in design of Switch Mode Power supplies, designs of Invertor and PFC design of full bridge, flyback, forward topologies or exposure to others
  5. Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suite; xDX Designer, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools such as Signal Integrity & Power Analyser, System Vision simulation or equivalents would be advantageous.
  6. Knowledge of Firmware development, design and test using suitable toolsets (i.e. Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim). Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation (Matlab, LT Spice)
  7. Awareness and application of DFM&T (Design for Manufacture & Test)
  8. Experience of recognised standards MIL Std, IPS etc
  9. Experience in component selection & derating analysis
  10. Practical workshop skills including soldering
