Therole:

We’reseeking an experienced senior full stack engineer who wants to make an impactand help revolutionise the student housing and shared utility experience.Reporting directly to our Head of Engineering, you’ll be a key collaborator inarchitectural decisions and will have the opportunity to take ownership onprojects.

Weleverage AWS and GCP so hands-on experience building complex systems usingcloud services would be an advantage, as would DevOps and CI/CD experience.

Ourcore tech stack currently consists of PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, TypeScript andNuxt. Our talented team love working within the Laravel/Vue ecosystem but we’realso open to exploring and seek to use the best tool for the job, striking abalance between developer experience, complexity, and performance.

Youwill have great communication skills, be hands-on and used to working in a highperforming Agile Scrum team that will advocate best practices, and lead byexample.  We're serious about our work, but we don't take ourselves tooseriously, so bring your sense of humour along for the ride too.

As aleading member of the web engineering team, you'll need to be naturallyinquisitive, product focused and enjoy solving real user problems. Be hands onin writing clean, testable code, and also be willing to spend time coaching andmentoring junior team members. Guide best practices collaboratively and havethe ambition to take ownership of complex tasks and projects, whether workingsolo or leading the team.

So, getready to face challenges head-on, be transparent about the hurdles youencounter, and find joy in helping our users and colleagues navigate their wayto success.

Keyresponsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain web applications using PHP,JavaScript, and other web technologies.
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to design andbuild high-quality, responsive web applications.
  • Integrate web applications with third-party APIsand services.
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented codethat is easy to understand and maintain.
  • Troubleshoot and debug web applications whenneeded.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers to help themachieve their career goals.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends andtechnologies in web development, because no one wants to be left behind. 

Skillsand experience:

  • At least 6 years of experience building awesomesoftware using PHP and JavaScript.
  • You’re a wizard with our backend tech PHP 8+ andLaravel 10.
  • You love to build beautiful and clean UI using Vue3, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS.
  • A master at working with APIs and integratingthird-party services.
  • You’re an experienced leader and enjoy mentoringsoftware engineers.
  • Demonstrable experience with Test DrivenDevelopment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability towork independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum and theassociated ceremonies.
  • A passion for doing things the right way.

PreferredExperience:

  • Experience building analytics products using bigdata.
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP or other cloud hostingservices.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD setups.
