Who are we looking for?

You thrive on tackling complex challenges while being able to propose clear and effective solutions. You’re comfortable operating in uncertain situations and enjoy bringing clarity. You keep pace with evolving technology, are future-focused, and at your best when problem-solving.

Clients trust you because you’re reliable, transparent, and able to explain technical concepts in a straightforward way. You can educate and inspire others, and you bring expertise in modern analytical techniques, engineering practices, and emerging technologies. You’re equally at ease presenting to clients, offering strategic advice, or building prototypes.

Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you’re happy stepping outside your defined role from time to time — whether that’s to support colleagues, engage with clients, or explore new areas of learning.

Responsibilities
  • Leading client engagements and acting as a subject matter expert.
  • Working within agile, experiment-driven environments that value iteration and innovation.
  • Assessing client needs, identifying opportunities for technology to add value, and managing relationships with stakeholders.
  • Breaking down complex challenges into clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Exploring and structuring varied forms of information to provide meaningful insights.
  • Applying scientific and statistical approaches to support decision-making.
  • Creating compelling narratives that bring technical findings to life for different audiences.
  • Developing maintainable, well-structured code that leverages both established and novel approaches.
  • Designing, reviewing, and implementing solutions across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments, while addressing risks and ensuring quality.
  • Building scalable systems that can be deployed into live environments.
  • Upholding ethical principles in the handling and use of information.
  • Delivering high-quality work on time, while showing initiative and the ability to get started quickly.
  • Supporting new business activity, including presentations and pitches.
  • Helping to shape the organisation’s future direction and contributing to company strategy.
  • Representing and living the organisation’s core values: fairness, transparency, and boldness.
About you
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in a technical or analytical role.
  • Degree-level background in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience in consultancy, engineering, or technology-focused environments.
  • Proven track record leading delivery across complex technical projects.
  • Strong coding skills (e.g. Python or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and modern development workflows.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational database technologies.
  • Sound understanding of coding best practice, including design patterns, version control, dependency management, quality assurance, error handling, logging, and monitoring.
Location

Hybrid role – typically 2–3 days a week on site (office or client), with flexibility around project needs.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll be joining at Manager level, with a competitive package that fairly reflects your contribution. You’ll be part of a fast-growing organisation where your voice will be heard, and where you’ll have the chance to help shape the future. It’s a place that values innovation, creativity, and collaboration, while giving you exposure to all aspects of the business — from strategy and operations to delivery and client success.

Why Machine Learning Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Machine learning (ML) has moved from research labs into mainstream UK businesses. From healthcare diagnostics to fraud detection, autonomous vehicles to recommendation engines, ML underpins critical services and consumer experiences. But the skillset required of today’s machine learning professionals is no longer purely technical. Employers increasingly seek multidisciplinary expertise: not only coding, algorithms & statistics, but also knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This article explores why UK machine learning careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these fields intersect with ML roles, and what both job-seekers & employers need to understand to succeed in a rapidly changing landscape.

Machine Learning Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Machine Learning Department

Machine learning is now central to many advanced data-driven products and services across the UK. Whether you work in finance, healthcare, retail, autonomous vehicles, recommendation systems, robotics, or consumer applications, there’s a need for dedicated machine learning teams that can deliver models into production, maintain them, keep them secure, efficient, fair, and aligned with business objectives. If you’re hiring for or applying to ML roles via MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, this article will help you understand what roles are typically present in a mature machine learning department, how they collaborate through project lifecycles, what skills and qualifications UK employers look for, what the career paths and salaries are, current trends and challenges, and how to build an effective ML team.

Why the UK Could Be the World’s Next Machine Learning Jobs Hub

Machine learning (ML) is becoming essential to industries across the globe—from finance and healthcare to retail, logistics, defence, and the public sector. Its ability to uncover patterns in data, make predictions, drive automation, and increase operational efficiency has made it one of the most in-demand skill sets in the technology world. In the UK, machine learning roles—from engineers to researchers, product managers to analysts—are increasingly central to innovation. Universities are expanding ML programmes, enterprises are scaling ML deployments, and startups are offering applied ML solutions. All signs point toward a surging need for professionals skilled in modelling, algorithms, data pipelines, and AI systems.
