We lead the UKs diplomatic, development and consular work around the world. We employ around 17,000 staff in our global network of 281 offices worldwide. Our UK-based staff work in King Charles Street in London, Abercrombie House in East Kilbride and in Milton Keynes.
Your role with us
Our Information and Digital Directorate is responsible for delivering the Foreign Secretarys ambition to make the FCDO the most technologically integrated and innovative foreign ministry globally. This involves harnessing digital, data, technology, IT security and information management to deliver our diplomatic, development and consular aims while keeping our people and information safe and secure.
Were currently looking to recruit two Senior Data Engineers, and if you join us youll be a key member of a team that is primarily Azure focused but uses a number of other Cloud technologies including Oracle and Amazon Web Services. Working with your colleagues to develop product that aligns with best practice, youll also assist the Power Business Intelligence team to deliver reporting products to our organisation.
Youll have a range of other tasks

these include delivering data products to business domain stakeholders and teams, mentoring and developing the skills of junior members of staff, and working with the Lead Data Engineer to develop a deep understanding of our data and systems. Committed to offering performance data products in line with good data engineering and architecture principals, your work will help us provide high quality data, information and knowledge to all our customers.
Who were looking for
With the ability to connect positively with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, and capable of hosting dynamic discussions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, youll have the expertise to design, build and test complex, large scale data products. Skilled at building teams to complete data integration services, youll have a well developed understanding of the impact of emerging trends in data tools, analysis techniques and usage, and be ready to select and implement the appropriate technologies to deliver resilient, scalable and future-proofed solutions.
You should possess the skills to produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas, understand industry-recognised modelling patterns and standards, and know when to apply them. Capable of comparing and aligning different models, you should also have good knowledge of Microsoft data engineering toolsets, specifically Azure Data Factory, however all relevant data experiences are valuable to us and will be considered. In addition, well expect you to have a good understanding of relational data models and/or cloud data warehouses.
You must be a British Citizen at the time of your application and be prepared to attain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
