The Group Data Office (GDO) is responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of how data is used across Royal London (RL). The function provides Data Governance, Data Management, Data Strategy, Analytics/AI, and Insight capabilities. It sets and oversees data related policies and standards, so data is collected, processed, and exploited in accordance with the Group’s risk appetite.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to join the Group Data Office. Reporting into the Enterprise Data Architect, this role will align target data architectures to our data capability model to unlock new and existing capabilities.
About the Role
- Responsible for the delivery of the detailed Data Architecture and designs for Projects & Programmes as well ongoing sustainability of existing data architectures.
- Work closely with Enterprise Data Architect and GTC function to ensure alignment to end-to-end domain architecture, docking into existing architecture design authority/boards where appropriate.
- Build strong business relationships with key stakeholders to understand their current challenges and act as a champion for delivering a data architecture to solve their problems and democratise data.
- Identify, manage, and monitor all emerging risks from Data Architecture and manages these in line with the Group Data Policy and the RCSA methodology.
- Recognise and present insight into the needs of the customer, considering the customer perspective while driving continuous improvement for customer through architectural design.
- Act as a key contributor to thought leadership in Data by external peers and industry bodies.
- Monitor industry developments and advise on their deployment in RLG.
About You
- Demonstrable specialist knowledge of architecture frameworks, trends, and initiatives
- Proven track record of supporting the Data architecture engagement for complex, multi-vendor programmes and matrix led engagements.
- Strong knowledge of Data technology and concepts, including Microsoft Azure stack & services, Dynamics/CRM, data pipelines, data security, data lineage (metadata), data cataloguing, Data glossary, user access controls, MDM/single view of customer, reference data, and insights: ML/AI & Analytics.
- Deep understanding of operating and commercial models and processes options that can wrap around data technologies.
- Excellent and proven communication of technical information
- Capability to develop presentations for and present to executive and senior level committees.
- Strong Influencing and communication skills and abilities, with business and technical teams
