We are seeking to hire an outstanding Research Assistant/Associate to join the Safe Artificial Intelligence Lab (SAIL) group, led by Prof. Alessio Lomuscio. The SAIL group is a friendly, vibrant, multi-national team working on various aspects of safe Artificial Intelligence, including verification and robustification of machine learning systems and autonomous systems. The group also has strong links with the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Safe and Trusted Artificial Intelligence and US institutions.

The post will be based in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London at the White City Campus. The Department of Computing is a leading department of Computer Science in the UK and the world and has consistently been awarded the highest research rating. The role will focus on verification, robustification and adversarial attacks for event-based systems (images, videos, or tabular) based on machine-learning, including transformer-based systems, and trained with neurosymbolic methods. 

Main Duties:

Research Associate: Hold a PhD in Computing or Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience*Research Assistant: A strong Master’s degree in an area pertinent to the subject area, . Computing or Engineering.Either a strong background in verification of neural networks, and adversarial search, OR a strong background in machine learning with particular emphasis to robustness.A strong publication track record in relevant conferences or journals.

*Candidates who not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be hired at Research Assistant level: salary scale £43,003 - £46,297 per annum.
