A Tier 1 bank is looking for a hands‑on principal‑level data engineer to lead the design and operation of a large‑scale, cloud‑based cyber data platform that powers real‑time detection, analytics and reporting across a complex global environment.


What you’ll do:


  • Own end‑to‑end data engineering for cyber analytics: ingest, transform, model and serve high‑volume data from diverse enterprise and external sources.
  • Design and maintain robust, observable pipelines (batch and streaming) with high reliability, low latency and efficient cost.
  • Productionise ETL/ELT workflows and reusable curated datasets that enable threat detection, anomaly discovery and investigative use cases.
  • Improve ingestion frequency and real‑time coverage; raise data quality through automation, testing and documentation.
  • Lead platform engineering and operations for the analytics data lake, including reliability, performance, and incident response aligned with SRE principles.
  • Partner with security, data science and product teams to turn requirements into scalable data products.

âś… Must have requirements:


  • Strong proficiency in Python, Spark, Databricks and Terraform
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals
  • Proven track record of designing and building data platforms on a major cloud (Azure preferred)
  • Experience operating and optimising real‑time data/streaming (e.g. Kafka/Event Hubs, Spark streaming)
  • Technical leadership experience, guiding teams whilst acting as a technical authority
  • Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices

👍 Bonus points for experience with:


  • Line management experience (even if for small teams)
  • Experience working in Financial Services
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security
