We are looking for a Principal Consultant – Project and Bid Management to join our Digital business. We provide, through Sirius Digital, bespoke, robust and high-performance software to meet and exceed user requirements. We specialise in Software Engineering, Modelling & Simulation, Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Synthetic Environments, and AI & Machine Learning (ML).


Our team provides, adaptable and highly skilled capability, with a range of specialities to ensure that the right techniques are used to solve your problem.


The Role:

As a principal consultant; project and bid management, your role will involve working with the Software Engineering and Data Science teams, providing project management capability, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of a broad scope of technical projects. The other key element of your role will be leading for Sirius Digital on the bid delivery and the management processes. Duties and responsibilities will include;

Responsibilities will include:

• Delivering end-to-end project management of technical projects according to best practice principles by planning, executing, and closing projects according to strict deadlines and timescales.

• Providing effective stakeholder management, communications management, risk management, resource management, scheduling and monitoring and reporting on projects.

• Defining project objectives and overseeing quality control throughout its lifecycle.

• Delivering projects to time, cost budgets and quality.

• Building new relationships and maintaining successful working relationships with our current customers.

• Identifying and winning work in line with the company business objectives.

• Working organically in customer teams to deliver rapid turn-around projects, or to plan and deliver tasks.

• Undertake line management duties which includes providing supervision and conducting performance appraisals, coaching and mentoring.

• Overseeing the end-to-end bid process for Digital, from identifying opportunities to submitting proposals.

• Managing bid resources

• Ensuring compliance with client requirements

• Creating detailed proposals (bids)

• Conducting market research into partnerships for bidding


About You:

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:


Essential

• A technically astute Project Manager who has significant demonstratable experience operating in a range of project environments of varying scales.

• A demonstratable track record of delivering project management as a consultant with a good understanding of working in a consultancy and software environment.

• APM or equivalent project management qualifications with substantial knowledge of agile project management

• Be educated to degree level and/or have equivalent relevant experience.

• Evidence of continuous professional development in project management.

• Advanced skills using IT effectively in project management including use of IMS related software and systems.

• Demonstratable skills in stakeholder management including influencing, negotiating and conflict management.

• Demonstratable experience and capability in writing proposals and coordinating bid management activity.

• Experience of line management and enabling people to perform.


Essential Skills and Personal Attributes

• Be able to adapt and provide flexibility in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

• Previous experience managing multiple concurrent technical projects through the full lifecycle simultaneously.

• Have practitioner experience in a relevant sector.

• Have strong communication, presentation and written skills.

• Be organised and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

• Highly motivated professional who strives to deliver ahead of targets.

• Be a trusted self-motivated individual who can perform when working as part of a team or when acting independently with support from colleagues.

• Be able to travel to different sites across the UK.

Other Requirements:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
