Role:Performance Marketing Director (Principal Strategic Audience & Media Lead) (FTC - 13 months Mat Cover)

Location:Chiswick, London, England, United Kingdom (2 days a week from Chiswick)


About the role:

We are looking for a Performance Marketing Director to join our UK team on a maternity cover. The full-time role is split with 80% of time dedicated to one of our most successful client accounts leading a Paid Media Team which is in-housed running across several brands. The remaining 20% of time is dedicated to our Performance Marketing department supporting our Head of Performance Marketing in driving our departments capabilities, refining/improving processes, supporting teams with best practice and driving our departments quarterly goals. Youll be a well-rounded data and performance marketing practitioner, leading projects with a strong focus on customer journeys and behaviour. As well as this, you will also be the senior client liaison and strategic campaign lead, an experienced technical practitioner and motivational team leader.

What you will be doing:
  • Strategic leadership across a series of accounts; able to grow the Paid Media vision with all stakeholders (Clients, Paid Media team and OLIVER teams)
  • Line Manager responsible for 3 peoples output and development within a client account of an in-housed team (2x Paid Media Managers and 1x Account Executive).
  • Reviewing, supporting and feeding back on all output from the team with a high focus on HQ initiatives, markets, process/operations, strategy, evaluation and education initiatives.
  • Leading all work scope and identifying strong ways of working across all client and internal teams
  • Managing many stakeholders in a large business driving forward best practice. This means you can identify the bigger picture and have the confidence to push back and provide stronger solutions that will have a higher impact on efforts delivered by multiple teams.
  • Leading all yearly demand and business planning with key stakeholders
  • Client and team escalation point for all matters across the work delivered
  • Leading high level presentations to senior executive team
  • Strong knowledge of media landscape and channels being well placed to support the team with any issues across all areas
  • Leader in understanding the needs and challenges of the client and providing strong solutions and recommendations
  • Identifying, improving and introducing new processes which build on efficiencies, time savings and management of multiple teams
  • Building new ways of working, both within account operations and with client stakeholders
  • Documenting and codifying these ways of working in processes that can be tracked and assessed as to their impact
  • Have a clear understanding of the workload of the team, both in relation to workflow demands as well as client "burn"
  • Responsible for liaison with 3P suppliers and partners, overseeing relationships, helping negotiate fees where appropriate as well as accreditations for the relevant team members
  • Ultimately responsible for the quality of output from the team in terms of technical excellence and timeliness
  • You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issues
What you need to be great in this role:
  • 8-10+ years agency experience in a paid media or performance marketing
  • A very strong understanding of media buying principles and the advertising landscape
  • Highly experienced strategist driving 360 consumer journeys and improving media and marketing effectiveness (with a focus on performance marketing).
  • Well versed at creating and leading a team to implement digital and audience strategies internationally
  • Able to guide senior key stakeholders in their strategic operations and questions
  • Excellent communication / data storytelling skills, ability to distil complex ideas for non-technical audiences
  • Confidence and comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Able to positively challenge and manage expectations when working with multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Can identify "pinch points", opportunities for time saving or potential client issues before they escalate
  • Showcase the outputs of the team and be their chief cheerleader both externally to the client and internally to OLIVER
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the media landscape, manifesting this in encouraging all parties to embrace new innovations, platforms and techniques within their campaigns
  • Experienced at mentorship and development of a team ensuring that they feel supported in their day-to-day work and their future growth
  • Manage senior stakeholders to ensure the team and focuses are on track as well as aligned with business/marketing goals
  • Build the team and identify new opportunities to grow the business
  • Drive education and media understanding across internal and client teams
  • Develop thought-leadership pieces within media but also in collaboration with OLIVER Agency Hub
  • Identify tech and opportunities which will automate or improve media buying
  • Strong leadership and support across all areas of work within the Paid Media Team
  • Establish a team culture and strive to create a happy and balanced workplace
  • Conducting appraisals and setting SMART objectives, in addition to regular 1-2-1s with team members
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • You can be the change - you prioritise environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic viability and how that translates into your day-to-day role
