The Company

This is an excellent chance to join a prominent food manufacturer producing innovative chilled products for the UK retailers and brands.

Highly ambitious and passionate about good food, they are now looking for a Packaging Specialist / Senior Packaging Developer who can help drive packaging innovation within the business.

The Role

Reporting to the Packaging Development Manager, you will work closely with customers and packaging suppliers to create concepts that are on trend in terms of new materials, sustainability and recycling initiatives. You will attend customer product submissions to present your proposals, creating graphical mock-ups to enhance and clearly communicate your concepts. This role will see you guaranteeing successful product launches with packaging that delivers on both innovation and quality.

You will work with stakeholders to manage expectations and deliver effective solutions to an agreed critical path, working closely with the NPD team. You will also provide comprehensive support throughout the manufacturing process by reviewing output to refine design and ensure the pack is fit for purpose. Your vision for innovation will embody both existing and new ranges, allowing concepts to translate into robust and tangible commercial solutions that really stand out in the marketplace.

The Person

We are looking for a creative and technically proficient Packaging Developer, ideally with a Packaging Technology, Food Technology or Product Design degree. An interest in graphic design would be great along with working knowledge of adobe packages such as photoshop and illustrator. You will already have a great understanding of food packaging substrates, sustainable materials and trends from your time within the food industry or with a packaging supplier / manufacturer.

You're now looking to utilise your experience in a more senior role where you can help deliver the packaging strategy for your business and key customers. You will enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment, are analytical in your approach but can think on your feet and be just as happy doing EPD as you are NPD. You will be highly adept at working collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and customers, being able to communicate your ideas confidently to all stakeholders. This is a hybrid role with travel between group sites and to customer HQs. A driving licence is required.
