ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL NEWS DIVISION BBC Studios' International News division produces world-leading content that shapes news delivery across platforms globally. With a focus on data-driven insights and customer engagement, the division is pivotal in defining the BBC’s direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategy.
THE ROLE BBC Studios now have an exciting vacancy for a Lead Data Analyst within our award-winning International News division. This role is crucial for understanding customer behaviour and shaping the BBC’s D2C strategy. The Lead Data Analyst will lead the development and implementation of a data and insights ecosystem, leveraging advanced analytics and proprietary tools to support all aspects of the acquisition and engagement funnel. The role also involves optimizing performance of product and marketing initiatives, building models to identify trends and patterns in customer behaviour, and collaborating with experimentation and data science teams to enhance overall marketing and product effectiveness.
Working within the Consumer Growth and Monetization team, the Lead Data Analyst will have a passion for data discovery, visualization, and a hunger to learn and work within the fields of product and marketing channel analytics. This is a brand-new area for the business, and you will have the chance to develop new KPIs and reporting to steer the 0-1 growth of the D2C business. Reporting to the Vice President of Measurement and Analytics, this role is a full-time hybrid working position based in London.The role may require travel to New York.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE? ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Experience in a direct-to-consumer, subscription, or ecommerce business.
Highly data literate with excellent skills in analyzing data using programmatic methods such as SQL, Python, and data analytics tools such as GA4, Adobe, or Piano.
Deep understanding of the customer funnel, including acquisition, retention, and customer segmentation strategies.
Proven experience in deriving value from data and presenting analysis to large groups and senior stakeholders. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI is highly desirable.
Strong business acumen and the ability to communicate complex data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Expertise in advanced analytics, data mining, forecasting, and predictive analytics.
Deep understanding of marketing principles, customer segmentation strategies, and digital marketing channels.
Experience with customer retention models, user cohorts, and lifetime value analysis.
Strong understanding of the acquisition funnel and content engagement strategies.
Collaborative, agile mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
