Opportunity

Relation has a unique opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join an interdisciplinary, collaborative team of experimental and computational drug discovery researchers at our state-of-the-art integrated wet and dry functional genomics lab in London.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to contribute to our cutting-edge discovery and development in the Innovation Lab team. The Innovation Lab develops discovery tools including novel single-cell, spatial transcriptomics assays and cellular models that feed into the drug discovery endeavors at Relation.

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Innovation Lab in London. In this role, you will maintain and manage our iPSC cell models, as well as work with state-of-the-art single-cell technologies. As part of our interdisciplinary team, you'll collaborate closely with both experimental and computational scientists, contributing directly to our mission of developing transformational medicines. This position offers unique exposure to novel cellular models and advanced genomic technologies, making it ideal for a technically skilled individual passionate about advancing therapeutic discoveries.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain and characterize induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines, including routine culture, passaging and quality control assessments to ensure optimal cell health and experimental readiness.
  • Execute CRISPR gene editing protocols, transfection of iPSC lines, perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA extraction, and sequence analysis to verify successful gene modifications and maintain detailed documentation of experimental procedures.
  • Establish and maintain cryopreserved cell banks, including proper labeling, tracking, and database management of all cell line variants, recording to the highest standard in an electronic LIMS system.
  • Work effectively as part of the lab team, efficiently communicating results.
  • Support laboratory housekeeping activities to ensure the efficient running of the lab.

Professionally, you have

  • A MSc or BSc in a life-sciences or related area with at least two years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience in tissue culture, including the maintenance of human iPSC.
  • Demonstrated expertise in basic molecular biology methods.
  • Strong documentation skills and experience with electronic laboratory information management systems.

Desirable knowledge/experience

  • Familiarity with stem cell characterization technologies such as fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACs) or immunofluorescence (IF).
  • Prior experience with CRISPR-Cas9 or other genome editing technologies in mammalian cells.
  • Experience in single cell RNA-seq and/or NGS technologies.
