For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

About the Role:

We're seeking a passionate Junior Machine Learning Engineer to join our cutting-edge ML Team. You'll be part of a small, dynamic group that embraces continuous research, development, and innovation, particularly in the realm of AI-driven solutions for our game products.

In this role, you’ll support the Head of the Department, assist Machine Learning Engineer(s), and provide the best support in creating AI/ML systems that generate game levels, enhance our game products, develop custom tools, and integrate machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models into real-time gaming environments. Our current focus includesCreating 3D Worlds and Game Levels using ML/DL technologies.

You'll assist in research into state-of-the-art advancements, building, training, and validating models that drive game-level development. Any knowledge or working experience with satellite imagery, point cloud data, and proprietary game datasets is a bonus.

You will assist in conducting data analysis, building ML models, being part of the team, and ensuring your support is available for the smooth deployment of ML models into production environments.

This role is based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Report to the Head of Machine Learning and assist the ML team.

Assist in designing, implementing, and fine-tuning cutting-edge ML algorithms and tools.

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to help integrate ML models into game development workflows.

Assist in conducting experiments to improve ML models and optimize performance.

Help train, retrain, and maintain ML systems and libraries for game-level development.

Attend team and stakeholder meetings to support project updates and provide insights.

Requirements

BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline; certifications are a bonus.

Proficient in Python and C++ with a strong interest in AI and Machine Learning.

Solid understanding of mathematics, statistics, probability, and machine learning algorithms.

Hands-on experience with learning methods like supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning; ML/DL and 3D ML/3D DL knowledge is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset and a passion for learning and innovation.

Good understanding of data structures, software architecture, and data modeling.

Experience with tabular data, computer vision, imagery data, point clouds, and game datasets.

Proficient in ML libraries and frameworks like NumPy, OpenCV, scikit-learn, PyTorch/PyTorch 3D, TensorFlow, and Keras, and familiar with CI/CD pipelines, version control (GitLab, Perforce), and cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
