Kpler is seeking a talented and motivated, Junior Data engineer to join our Commodities Market Data team. The CMD team is responsible for the ingestion, filtering, enrichment, and distribution of externally sourced data. This data is coming from thousands of sources related to maritime trade, and is critical to the business processing entities in Kpler, so they can provide a live and accurate picture of the global trade to our customers.
Your mission
- Get up to speed with our domain, working independently on some tasks, with support on more complex projects.
- Working alongside other engineers, take responsibility for the development and implementation of our core data ingestion and distribution pipelines, and associated back-end systems based on project requirements and design specifications.
- Help to troubleshoot and optimise existing workflows to improve performance and efficiency. Ensure data integrity and accuracy across various pipelines.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and debugging skills with a proactive approach to learning.
You'll be a match if you
- Are proficient inPython,or other scripting languages, with experience in data manipulation and transformation (such as withPandas).
- Are familiar withSQL,RDBMSorBig Datatechnologies.
- Have knowledge of data integration,ETLprocesses, andbatch/streamingdata processing.
- Are comfortable working withGit, code reviews, andAgilemethodologies.
- Have an understanding of containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g.,Docker,Kubernetes, Airflow).
- Are eager to learn new languages and technologies.

- Have experience withScala.
- Are familiar withMachine Learning,especially with NLP.
- Have worked withKafkaor other message-broker technologies.
- Have exposure toElasticsearch.
- Have worked withAWS(or another cloud provider), usingTerraform.
