About the Team

You will be working within the Digital, Data and Technology team where we have market-leading, collaborative and high performing Digital and Technology specialists operating predominantly within regulated industries, particularly major Infrastructure, Highways, Rail, Aviation and Energy.

Our work spans projects that cover everything from enterprise level solutions for critical national infrastructure to rapid R&D prototyping across multiple domains. We regularly solve problems involving the ingestion, storage, and processing of data at scale, both in real-time and batch. On top of this we design and implement APIs and UIs that deliver insights through engaging website and mobile user interfaces.

We focus on delivering excellence in our outcomes, underpinned by class-leading data analytics, AI and technology, helping organisations make informed decisions about managing their infrastructure assets. We embed ourselves with the client to improve their processes, systems, and data, and maintain these relationships after we leave.

What you’ll be doing

You will work alongside an experienced pool of other data scientists and AI experts, software developers, solution architects, product owners, project managers, business analysts, among others. Your role will be focused on the development and application of data analytics, including techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, to generate insights enabling step-changes in business performance. You will be working within teams focused on opportunities associated with exploitation of data to deliver the following:

  • Conducting exploratory analysis to identify applications of data, such as new forecasting or classification challenges, that have the potential to make a large difference to business performance.
  • Contributing within projects to communication with clients about the risks, opportunities, and dependencies across data projects.
  • Working within agile development teams to test new analytical or algorithmic approaches.
  • Documenting your progress and findings as a foundation for project success.
  • Working with experienced software developers on the handover of successful data science and analytics innovations for embedding in software solutions.
  • Developing strong collaborative relationships with the team to develop shared technical interests, and with colleagues skilled in other areas across the Amey organisation so your work is connected to real-world applications.

Amey Consulting are looking for individuals who demonstrate clear communication, strong teamwork, and a genuine eagerness to learn. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, and proactive in their approach, showing professionalism and integrity in everything, they do. To be considered for the programme we require the following.

  • Minimum 2:1 Degree in with a degree in a highly quantitative STEM area discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science).
  • A-levels including minimum A or equivalent in Mathematics.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas, and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Confidence to work under pressure, and the ability to prioritise and plan effectively.
